Clock Tower [a] is a survival horror point-and-click adventure video game series created by Hifumi Kono. The series includes four games in total. Gameplay in the series generally involves the player hiding and escaping from enemy pursuers without any weapons to defeat them. Scissorman is a reoccurring antagonist and sometimes the sole enemy in the game. Kono's inspiration for the first Clock Tower title came from watching Italian film director Dario Argento 's horror films, especially his film Phenomena The game began as an experimental project with a low budget and small staff. It sold well enough to prompt a direct sequel which competed with Capcom 's Resident Evil The third game in the series was not directed by Kono and was a critical failure.

It is both the geographic and economic center of Termina. As the three days progress, the citizens of Clock Town will gradually desert the town, due to the moon above; on the Night of the Final Day, the entire city will be deserted, save for a few residents believing the moon will not fall. Along with the rest of Termina, the main currency of Clock Town is the Rupee. It is used for all forms of trade, including payment for items and mini-games throughout the town. Rupees can commonly be found around town in abandoned jars, Treasure Chests , and behind shrubs. Clock Town appears to be purely commercial with negligible industrial activity. Consisting almost entirely of shops, restaurants, and inns, Clock Town assuredly earns much of its revenue through tourism during the annual Carnival of Time.
Clock Town is basically the hub of the game. Each three-day cycle begins in Clock Town, and here you will be spending a lot of time doing sidquests and getting to know the townsfolk and their problems. Though you are not obligated to stay here any longer than you have to, the meat of this game comes from the sidequests and subplots that all begin here in Clock Town.
